Audacious Audio Player

Audacious audio player for Linux.

The Audacious audio player began as a derivative of Beep Media Player.

The Beep Media Player itself is a derivative of XMMS, focusing on low resource utilization and high audio quality and support for a wide range of audio formats.

Audacious plays your music how you want it, without stealing away your computer’s resources needed for other tasks.

Even though the graphical interface is simple in appearance, it gives you sound quality when listening to music.

Drag & Drop:

Drag and drop folders and individual song files, search for artists and albums in your entire music library.

Create and edit your own custom playlists.

Listen to CD’s or stream music from the Internet, like metalexpressradio.

You can tweak the sound with the graphical equalizer or experiment with LADSPA effects.

Audacious audio player uses a modern GTK-themed interface or if you wish, you can change things up with a Winamp Classic skin, but the player becomes microscopic.

Use the plugins included with Audacious to fetch lyrics for your music.

Audacious Audio Player.

It is primarily intended for use on POSIX-compliant systems such as Linux, with limited support for Microsoft Windows.

Latest Version: 4.2. February 2022, available for download from developers website.

Version in Debian 11 repository: V4.0.5

Type the following command in the Terminal window:
