Extract audio from dual audio video file, the easy way.

Whether you want to extract a selected track or just disable other audio tracks from an .avi file, you use MKVToolnix + MKVToolnix GUI.

If you just want to extract mp3 audio, then just select the track of choice and click the "button" Start Multiplexing.

To find out which track is in your preferred langauge,open a terminal window, then you go to the folder in which the .avi, mp4 or mkv file is located.

Extract audio from dual audio video file, the easy way.

Then type the following command:

mkvmerge --identify-verbose filename.avi

Press Enter,

Track ID 0: video (MPEG-4p2) [pixel_dimensions:624x352]

Track ID 1: audio (MP3) [audio_channels:2 audio_sampling_frequency:48000]

Track ID 2: audio (MP3) [audio_channels:2 audio_sampling_frequency:48000]

How to install:

sudo apt-get install mkvtoolnix-gui

Press Enter,

To create a videofile.mkv with preferred audio:

  1. Then click Add Source Files button to add the dual audio.avi file.
  2. Under Tracks, chapters and tags, disable the audiotracks you do not want and then just click the button Start multiplexing.
  3. The .avi will now become a .mkv file, done.

To extract preferred mp3 audio:

Follow the same procedure for .mp3 file to be extracted into a .mka audio file.

Then just rename the file ending to .mp3 and it is ready to be used.
