Hyper Structured Query Language Database (HSQLDB) is a SQL relational database management system written in Java. It has a JDBC driver that complies with ANSI SQL: 2008 and supports a rich subset of SQL-92 (BNF tree format) plus SQL: 1999 and SQL: 2003 enhancements.

It is a small, fast multithreaded engine and server with memory and disk-based tables, LOBs, transaction isolation, encryption and ACID.
