Does Linux Have A Defense Against INK Printer Cartridge Scams?

Undefined

Some printer manufacturers includes a chip inside their ink cartridges, to trick the user into thinking their ink is running low, when in fact it isn't. Does Linux have any defense against this type of scams?

The answer is no, because the communication occurs between the chip and the printer's ink lights.

They do this to make sure you buy only original cartridges from them, not competitors.
