Amazon Wickr Me Messaging App To Shutdown

English

Amazon Wickr Me Messaging App To Shutdown.

Wickr is an American software company founded in 2012 by a group of security experts and privacy advocates and was based in New York City.

The company is best known for its instant messenger application of the same name. The Wickr instant messaging apps allow users to exchange end-to-end encrypted and content-expiring messages, including photos, videos, and file attachments.

Wickr’s high-strength encryption won the company contracts with the US Department of Defense.

It also attracted criminals, just as any app that uses encryption does, like Telegram, which is highly favored by hackers selling services or leaked data.

Wickr software:

The Wickr software is available for the iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems.

On June 25th, 2021, Wickr was acquired by Amazon Web Services, but is now being abandoned and is set to shut down by the end of 2023.

New users will only be accepted until December 31,2022, but why one would want to signup for a dying app, I don't know.

“After careful consideration, we will be concentrating Wickr’s focus on securing our business and public sector customers’ data and communications with AWS Wickr and Wickr Enterprise, and have decided to discontinue our consumer product, Wickr Me,” the company said in a statement.

Games For Linux

Windows has always been the preferred platform for gaming, but after STEAM's interest in Linux more game developers are making their games natively available for Linux.
